This review comes from my friend Keef, who was fortunate or unfortunate enough to see an early screening of Case 39!
Ok so I was lucky (or unlucky) enough to see a screening of CASE 39 which is about a social worker (Renee Zellweger) who takes on a case (number 39 which means bugger all!! ) to rescue a young silent girl from a family that are trying to kill the poor little bugger and then discovers that she isn’t nice but one clingy psycho Satan child!
Anyway why does Hollywood want to keep making films about kids that turn about to be killers or possessed??? I watched the trailer and was hoping for a shitty film that makes me jump every now and then… my Mrs says “God that scared the shit out of me”, to which I can hide in various parts the house for the next 24 hours trying to scare the shit out of her! This film doesn’t!! I don’t even know if I should tell people to watch this on DVD? Usually bad films have some sort of pretty leading lady which gets you through the film, but you don’t with this. Renee walks around in her knickers trying to look like some MILF and still looks like a desperate Bridget Jones trying to look sexy!
From start to finish it’s bad! It leaves you thinking why? It doesn’t tell you why the girl is a little killing shit, just that people want to kill her (after being with her for a couple of days)! Bradley cooper (The Hangover) is playing Doug Ames who is Renee’s partner in the film and is one of the first people to get killed in the worst possible way (by hornets for Christ sake) but the thing is… the film leaves you with the notion that – it may be all in his head? Somehow the little girl gives the people a call and then they go mad and kill themselves? Err why and how?? It’s doesn’t let you know?
The film is completely pointless and should have gone straight to DVD! If you really want to see a scary film about kids… stick to ‘The Exorcist’ or my favourite ‘The Orphanage’!
Yes the review is short and sweet and the only reason I am writing this is to let everyone know to avoid it!!
* Star (1 out of 5) for me and that’s only because the little girl is a little creepy!! Yes people this film is shit!
