Does Superman Returns really need a Director’s Cut?
Here’s one I hadn’t heard about. There seems to be an online campaign mounting to get Warner Brothers to release a Director’s Cut of Superman returns – they’ve even put a trailer together, which you’ll find below.
Is this really something we need? As far as I know the scenes that they want to have reinstated are all available on the previous DVD release and I can’t really see what benefit they would make to the film, I really like Superman Returns, it takes some shit and yeah it has some flaws, but overall I think it’s actually a really good film. And Routh (pronounce as you would South) is a perfect fit not only for the late, great Chris Reeves, but for the Superman/Clark Kent model himself.
I can’t help but feel that these guys heading the campaign would be better spending their time trying to get a follow up done. I don’t wanna see a reboot or reimaging, there’s no need when they could easily carry on. Sadly I don’t think it will ever see the light of day!
