Being a big Stallone fan, I’m gutted I missed this earlier in the week. Sly has checked in with his number one fan-site – StalloneZone, ran by Craig Zablo – and told them that he has had a change of heart over the story for Rambo 5. Previously it was to involve more of a sci-fi element to it, centred on a genetically enhanced solider/creature who had escaped a military facility and was on the rampage – Rambo is hired to hunt it down at any cost. It has now changed to Rambo being hired to rescue someone who has been abducted south of the border.

I’m letting you know that Rambo has changed course and the story about hunting the man/beast will be done using another character in the lead. RAMBO himself will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished .

Yeah so the original story sounded like a cross between Universal Soldier and Predator – I kinda liked it, and I admired the bravado of changing the genre to keep it fresh and new. Instead Rambo 5 will now more likely be similar to Man On Fire, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. What IS cool though, is that we may get two action packed Stallone films and of course The Expendables makes three! Can’t wait! I’m sure we’ll start to hear more soon – we’ll keep you posted.
