In the entertainment industry two things confuse the fuck out of me, the first is why everyone, EVERYONE, thinks the sun shines out of Cheryl Cole’s arse (US readers, you may not have had much exposure to “Newcastle’s finest” – but it’ll happen, you’ve been warned) and the second is how M. Night Shenanigans can still get work! Sure, Devil (the first in The Night Chronicles) hasn’t been as universally panned as some of his other works, but neither has it blown anyone away. Although I shouldn’t be surprised, I could hardly believe my eyes when I read this morning that the one time “amazing” director is attached to another high profile project.

His latest project is in association with Will Smith production company, Overbrook Entertainment and is a sci-fi venture called One Thousand A.E. The script has been penned by Gary Whitta who also churned out The Book of Eli and it is believed the film is being developed as a vehicle for Jaden Smith. Must be alright having Will Smith as your ol’ man.

“What would you like for Christmas Jaden?”

“Well dad, I’d like you to form a production company that will produce films which will star… me.”

“You got it son.”

Nah, just kidding, I quite liked The Karate Kid remake, and Smith Jnr was pretty good in The Pursuit of Happyness too. (That’s not a mistake either spelling fans!)

Anyway, not much else is known, but here’s my 2 pence; anyone remember that animated film a few years back called Titan A.E. – the expensive flop which killed the short live Fox Animation Studios? Well A.E. stood for After Earth (had been destroyed), so I’m guessing that AE is a new dating system in much the same way as BC (Before Christ and AD (Anno Domini) is used now. A live action, far flung future sci-fi film after the destruction of earth? I’m up for that! Oh hang on, can someone other than M. Night Shenanigans direct please? I’d even settle for Uwe Boll I think!
