Danny Elfman (who’s been a hit ‘n’ miss lately in my book!!) is set to score The Green Hornet according to Firstshowing.com. I was introduced to Elfman’s work through the first two Batman films, both of which were epic and will stand the test of time forever! No matter how good Hans Zimmer’s and James Newton-Howards score is for the newer flicks… it doesn’t hold a candle to Elfman’s original score! Elfman has since collaborated with Tim Burton on pretty much all of his flicks, the non-Batman score that stands out Edward Scissorhands – which in my opinion is one of his best! Watching Edward Scissorhands with Elfman’s score still makes my hairs stand on end, the score is so good in fact that every bloody Christmas advert in the UK has since nicked it! I also loved his score for Spider-Man, I know it’s not a popular choice but I thought it suited the tone of the film. He has done is fair share of shit latley though… Terminator Salvation, Hulk and Red Dragon to name a few which all sound like his phoned them in.
Am I bothered about The Green Hornet…. not really, not my thing. I like Seth Rogen but I don’t see him as any kind of hero regardless whether he’s playing it for laughs or not? But I think adding Danny Elfman to the crew might elevate this picture and give it that superhero shine… and it may at least, give us a hero motif we can all hum along to!!?
