Do any of you guys remember a couple of years ago there were big plans for a Justice LEgue movie? At the time there was confusion as to how this would fit in with Chris Nolan’s Batman franchise and Bryan Singer’s Superman franchise (it was still a possibility back then!) as Christian Bale and Brandon Routh had no involvement. The film was being developed and directed by George Miller (Mad Max, err, Happy Feet).
Before being canned due to a variety of reasons including a $300million budget, the film was due to go into production in 2008 and would have seen the likes of Superman, Batman, The Green Lantern and Wonder Woman join forces to defend the world from an unstoppable, evil, evilness and would have starred Adam Brody, Common, Megan Gale and D.J Cotrona along with Jay Baruchel as the villain. Which is why we’re here today. Jay Baruchel as you may know is in Disney’s latest release the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and has been doing the usual publicity rounds. When asked by Digital Spy about the failed project Barunchel had this to say:
“I’ll just say this, if we had been able to make the movie that we had gone down [to Australia] to rehearse, if you had seen the production art I’d seen … it would’ve been the coolest thing ever”, Baruchel said. “It would have been the neatest vision of Batman and the coolest vision of Superman you’ve ever seen. It would have been dark and fairly brutal and quite gory and just fucking epic.”
I admire his passion, but really, would have been that good? I don’t see how it could compete with Nolan’s vision of Batman, quite frankly sir, I think you’re talking out of your arse!

There had been speculation that Warner’s had but the film back into active development and that there would be an announcement made at Comic Con… but it didn’t happen. I personally hope this one is bull shit – Smallville has done a decent job of assembling a version of the Justice League, lets just leave it at that.
