As you know there is a Green Lantern film in development with Martin Campbell directing, so I thought I would bring you a complete run down of the Green Lantern, some of the actors who are in the upcoming film and some of the comic book history. Some of the information may be considered spoilers… welcome to part 1…

You cannot apply, you cannot be recommended by a friend, you can only be chosen… In a nutshell, they police the galaxies and if you step out of line they’ll kick your ass. The Lanterns each wear a ring that grants them super powers to protect the innocent from evil.
A new enemy is rising that threatens to destroy the balance of good and our fate lies in the newest recruit to the Green Lanterns, the first human to ever be chosen, Hal Jordan….
Hal must learn to accept his new role, master his new powers and overcome his fears, if he is to become the greatest Green Lantern of all…
Ryan Reynolds is Hal Jordan
He’s a cocky son of a bitch who becomes a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft against his family’s wishes after the tragic death of his father. In my opinion Reynolds is a great choice for the role because of his pretty cool portrayal of the cocky kick-ass Hannibal King in Blade Trinity, who displays similarities to Hal’s character in the Green Lantern. In the comic he was founder of the justice league and became the greatest of all the Green Lanterns, this honour ended in tragedy as he also became the Green Lanterns greatest enemy (dot, dot, dot.)
Mark Strong is Sinestro
This guy is mean, he’s a no shit kind of guy, he was the greatest of all the lanterns and is tasked with job to mentor the rookie Hal Jordan, they quickly become friends, but in the future there differences will test there friendship.
Strong has said in many interviews that he knows Sinestro has many die hard fans out there so he wants to do the comic character justice for the fans, expect a military approach to Sinestro.
Peter Sarsgard is Hector Hammond
Expect this guy to look ugly, he’s villian of film and in the comics he comes in contact with a meteor, which makes his head and brain begin to grow bigger, giving him the ability’s to read people minds, no nothing like Matt Parkman from Heroes, (the whole head tilting, shaky camera shotsl of his eyes gets on my balls). This guy is an all out nutter.
Blake Lively is Carol Farris
The Eye Candy of the movie, she’s hard as nails, she’s fit as fuck and she’s also Hal’s boss. Jordan has his work cut of for him with this bomb shell. Lively has been in the press saying that Director Martin Campbell wants the fights gritty and real, so this is looking promising, I’m not expect too much from her in the first instalment but if there are sequels to come, she could be a very interesting character.
There’s all so a cool supporting cast with Angela Basset playing a government agent in charge of covert operations.
Tim Robbins as Senator Hammond, our villains’ father.
Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur, it will be his ring that chooses Hal Jordan, don’t expect him to be around to much in this film but he has confirmed that we will learn more about him in the sequels to follow.
I’m expecting more developments over the next coming months, but in the mean time if you want to read up on the Green Lantern as suggest any comics by the legend Geoff Johns stating with Secret Origins. Tune in next month for the 2nd part of my Green Lantern special…
